I sent the roofer my bill. Cyn wrote up a polite explanation of why we were sending it. It's been two weeks, and we haven't heard anything. I still have his sign, but I probably won't do anything interesting with it.

Ooh, gosh, guy - that's *really* frustrating. I hope it gets solved soon.

You could do what I've seen when people paint "lemon" on their cars - put up the sign with an attachment saying, "Disappeared for weeks and never got back to us after he screwed up a part of the job."

It's over - I sent him the bill, he ignored it.

Not that big a deal, really. More of an annoyance than anything. I billed him for something like $30 or less. Out of the thousands of dollars I paid him for the otherwise good work, I'm not too worried.

I asked him to put in another vent for me, that I'm pretty sure wasn't included in the quote. For thousands of dollars, he can throw that sort of thing in. If he charged me for it, it would probably cost me more than I billed him for. And that very thing could have annoyed him about my request, enough that he wouldn't even consider paying me.

So for me, it's all about making the statement.

Hopefully you'll have no more inconveniences with the roof and in a couple of years you'll think, "Yeah, there were some things that were a pain," but not feel any real annoyance.
