Someone just told me that McDonald's removes the flavor from their beef, and re-flavors it, so all their burgers taste the same.

Yeah, they admitted that they flavor their fries with beef. A few vegetarians were upset about it.

They used to cook the fries in beef fat until about 10 years ago or so. When they switched to vegetable oil they added "natural flavor" (i.e. beef flavor) to the fries to keep the taste the same.

I heard a talk radio program a while back where they were talking about artificial and natural flavorings. The guy said it's all just chemicals and that artificial and natural flavorings are basically the same, it's just that companies like to use natural flavors because it sounds better on the ingredient list.

I like McDonald's fries better than most fast food places.

What really bothers me is when places batter their fries. Why do french fries need batter?
