Me too. I need to search the 'net for some kind of list of friendly products - environmentally friendly, worker friendly, etc.

And I said it a few weeks ago. Nikes are the best athletic shoes that I've found.

i buy the cheapest sneakers i can. flat soles and no frills. my sandals, on the other hand, are the best i could find, and were made in italy. whether it was a sweatshop, i don't know. when i used to buy work boots, i always bought redwings, which were american made.
