Last April, I stopped by Forest Home Cemetery, in Milwaukee, to take a look around. I've finally gotten around to posting the photos.

There are lots of famous people buried at Forest Home, but they're mostly industrialists. If you ever do a book on the graves of stars in the midwest, Alfred Lundt and Lynne Fontanne are the only ones here that anyone has heard of. Unless you want to start including the beer barons.

I've been working on a book about Graceland Cemetery in Chicago. No "celebrities" there, but some incredible grave markers and monuments, and lots of movers and shakers from the early days of Chicago, including well-known names like Pullman, McCormick, Marshall Field (I through IV), and a bunch of the architects who rebuilt the city after the Great Fire.

They sure knew how to bury people back in the olden days.

Yeah, they did. I've been to Graceland, and it is impressive.

Of all the famous businessmen at Forest Home, you'd probably only recognize Schlitz, Pabst and Blatz. The rest are all well-known, at least by name, only to us locals.

There are some really artistic memorials in that cemetery. I really like the drape of the robes in the last one.
