Cyn thought I was an INTJ. I'm not really sure. ISTJ seems to be all about the rules. I'm not completely there with the rules. It's important in society, that most people have rules to follow. I'm definitely not a fan of traditions.

Test results say:

ISTJ
responsible, planner, private, loner tendencies, perfectionist, organized, detail oriented, organized, would rather be friendless than jobless, realistic, observer, clean, focused, does not talk about feelings, finisher, punctual, private, does not appreciate strangeness, not adventurous, not spontaneous, follows the rules, dutiful, avoids mistakes, conventional, likes solitude, insensitive to the hardships of others, prepared, anti-tattoos, things rules are important, cautious, security seeking, prepares for worst case scenarios, logical, analytical, does not accept apologies easily, hard working

INTJ
loner, more interested in intellectual pursuits than relationships or family, not very altruistic, not very complimentary, would rather be friendless than jobless, observer, values solitude, perfectionist, detached, private, not much fun, hidden, skeptical, does not tend to like most people, socially uncomfortable, not physically affectionate, unhappy, does not talk about feelings, hard to impress, analytical, likes esoteric things, tends to be pessimistic, not spontaneous, prone to discontentment, guarded, does not think they are weird but others do, responsible, can be insensitive or ambivalent to the misfortunes of others, orderly, clean, organized, familiar with darkside, tends not to value organized religion, suspicious of others, can be lonely, rarely shows anger, punctual, finisher, prepared

I can cross a lot of things off of both lists.

"Guardian of time-honored institutions"??

I'm thinking even if that's lurking there, somewhere, that's not really the impression I get.

Honored by time is not enough. It's got to have some good reason to continue to exist. Though I do have a certain amount of nostalgia.

Like, the Constitution is pretty important. I don't care if the Masons stick around. I like our historic buildings.

Just like me (except I'm an F rather than a T). My result from this particular test is ISFJ (I posted details on Cyn's journal). In the past I've been either INFJ or borderline between INFJ and ISFJ. I relate more to the INFJ because the S is more conservative and traditional.

Interesting you vary (or are balanced) between sensing and intuitive.

Cyn's daughter said she's gotten three different results on this kind of test.

Yeah, those are the questions that are difficult for me to answer because I'm balanced on the S/N scale. I'd rather be balanced on the Introvert/Extrovert scale - it would make life a whole lot easier.

I took this particular test a few times and got varying results - including a move from F into T. I think too many of the questions related to decision-making, in which I do use thinking over feeling. But overall I'm more about feeling than thinking. Besides, about 25 years ago I took the full-fledged Myers-Briggs test and was an INFJ (borderline N/S). I suspect my outlook has changed in some respects since then, but I still relate to the INFJ profile.

A lot of the methodology behind the indicator is based on decision-making.

I'd like to see what's involved in the official test. I'm sure this quiz is a rough approximation, at best.

There were some questions that I'm sure what they were trying to get at, was not what the question was worded as, in my perception. There was a question regarding whether I thought that rules were important. My answer is yes, but not to me personally. So I put the dot in the middle. I'm sure that a "yes" would not have told them what they expected.

Yeah, there were definitely some questionable questions. ;) One that irked me was about whether you prefer emotion or compassion over cold analytical thought. The word "cold" probably swayed people away from answering on the Thinking side of things, ya know?

I wonder what people would have thought if they'd said "heated emotion."

Fortunately, most of us analytical types don't have a problem with it being termed "cold." :-)

Here's another interesting Myers-Briggs type of test: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm
The questions are limited to Yes or No, but I thought they were generally easier to answer than the previous test. And I'm *still* an ISFJ!

I = 67%
S = 25%
F = 62%
J = 78%

Date: 2012-01-04 06:13 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] low-delta.livejournal.com
My Type is the same as the previous quiz. (percentages from the other quiz in parentheses)
ISTJ
Introverted 67 (67)
Sensing 25 (56)
Thinking 75 (74)
Judging 61 (59)

That sensing at 25% must be an error.

Not to belabor the point, but I like the format of the questions at http://kisa.ca/personality/ - even though my results remain ISFJ. Maybe I've changed in the past 25 years to more of an S than an N?

That's what I'm thinking, that some of our ways change as we get older. Or the mood we're in when we take the test on a particular day sways the results.

Date: 2012-01-03 07:41 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] serendipity.livejournal.com
True, and results can vary most on those scales in which we might be balanced. Tonight I actually tested as a T on one test, and as an E on another. Although I really doubt I'm getting more balanced on the E/I scale, I could be gaining on the T in my old age.

Ta-dah, your personality type is ISTJ!
Introverted (I) 86% Extraverted (E) 14%
Sensing (S) 86% Intuitive (N) 14%
Thinking (T) 85% Feeling (F) 15%
Judging (J) 82% Perceiving (P) 18%

The questions were more basic and black/white.

Still an ISTJ, though. Maybe that really is me?

Maybe it is really you! Whoa, look at those high percentages, you extremist, you. ;)

Besides, you Think too much. :D
