As I mentioned, this past weekend, we went to my mom's family reunion. My uncle took a few of us to the orchard, and the house where they used to live. It's long abandoned.

1
The back of the house.

2
Uncle Cecil coming around the front of the house. Note the front door behind the vines. And the honey bee hive on the upper left of the window.

4
I won't say whose butt this is, but this is how you get into the house.

This was in the ceiling of the kitchen. No clue how it got there or remained.

I went upstairs, and Linda and Mark said there was a bird in the other room, and I should go look. Maybe I could identify it. It was a young turkey vulture. It was a little skittish, so it made its way over to the window. I went back downstairs and outside, so it popped back in the room.

13
Then it flew to the opposite window, where it sat for a bit, then decided that the people at the bottom of the stairs were too annoying, and it flew off.

The shed behind the house.

16
The barn was in pretty good shape.

The goal my uncles set up in the barn. They were Hoosiers.

I really like picture #9 where the inside of the house is dark and we are looking out the window at the nature scene.

I find abandoned houses creepy in a cool sort of way.
:)
The shoe is really weird.

It is sad to me to see someone's memory in disrepair!

Despite that, my mom and her sister enjoyed the visit. Her sister hadn't seen the place since she was little.

I agree with my Mom about the picture with the window above the sink. I imagine the people doing the dishes and looking out on the beautiful scene years ago.
I'm also very curious about that shoe!

I'm surprised there isn't a bird's nest in it.

I always find it strange (and somehow sad) that a house gets ABANDONED.
