Friday night, I didn't do anything but watch a little Dr Who with Cyn.

Saturday, I didn't do much in the morning or early afternoon. Then I went down to Milwaukee for a group Photowalk. Wandered around the neighborhood of the library for a couple of hours. Then I went to the camera shop, on the south side. Then I went to Discount Liquor to pick up some more Scotch for a tasting I was running, with Doug. I stayed and talked with Doug until after midnight, so I didn't get home until quarter to one.

Doug got a few friends together (Jeremy, Shannon, Pete, John), and we tasted a few. Cragganmore 12, Glenlivet 15, Macallan 12, Oban Distiller's Edition, Highland Park 18, Ardbeg 10, Laphroig 18. It went well. I did well with getting all the information out there. I wasn't really prepared with handouts, like I like to be, but Cyn came to the rescue and e-mailed some stuff to Doug, and we got a little bit together.

Today was a snowstorm. I spent the morning and afternoon, during the storm, fixing up my photos from yesterday. At 4:00, I was leaving to go to gaming in town, and was rather surprised to find that I had to shovel my way out of the driveway. There was a good six inches on most of the driveway. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised since it had been snowing for six hours. When I got to Derek's, I wasn't sure if I could park in the driveway, and a spot on the street had been cleared out, so I parked there. When I left, I found I had been plowed in, and I had to shovel the car out. After I got home, I went back out to the driveway, but barely lasted half an hour. I think Cyn's going to have to do more shoveling in the morning. In fact, I'm sure if it, because it's still snowing now. And it's windy, so there will be a nice drift across it. It's a very heavy, packing snow. It doesn't feel particularly wet, but it's heavy.

Manolo has gotten into Jura (Superstition)Single Malt lately. He likes the "lightly peated" flavour. Our supermarket was selling out as they're not going to carry it any more and he got their last two bottles for 10€ each. That was a major bargain.

Yeah, good price! I've had that. It's pretty good. Superstition is their best, I think.

For lightly peated, he would like Oban, if you can find it. It's a bit more expensive, though.

I'll tell him about the Oban. Haven't seen that one around here though. They have a fantastic whisky shop in Stansted Airport in London and they were having a tasting when we passed through there the last time and that's where he discovered Jura.
:)

Cool shop! I would never expect to find anything like that in an airport.

From the Stansted Airport Website:

World of Whiskies
If you love your whisky, or are buying a gift for someone who does, make sure you have a look at the 350 malts, plus a range of exclusive and rare bottles to choose from. A helpful member of staff will be happy to share their knowledge with you.

The guy conducting the tasting was really knowledgeable!
