... sort of.

I created a journal, where I could write about all the shows I've ever been to. It's at [livejournal.com profile] kevinsconcerts. I started a new journal for them, so I could tag them all, without cluttering up my own tags, so I could date them all as the original show date, and so I could go public with the journal. Actually, I took the more public one to a different site. I created an account at Dreamwidth, and imported the LJ one to it. http://kevins-concerts.dreamwidth.org/

I started by going through my ticket stub collection. Those boxes hold the record of almost every show I've been to, where I had a ticket stub. For the rest of the concerts, I had to try to remember what they were - I've probably completely forgotten a few - and do a lot of internet research to date them. Some bands have a fairly complete tour history either on their sites or on fan sites. Some bands have enough interest that people have written about the shows, and you get lucky. Some bands have no helpful info written about them at all.

I don't have stubs for a lot of shows at Shank Hall. If you pay at the door, you just walk in. Fortunately, the schedule on their website goes back to August 2004. Unfortunately, I needed dates from further back than that. Fortunately, I found a lot of their pages on the Wayback machine. Unfortunately, the old pages are not very complete. There are still a few shows that I couldn't place. Sometimes, it showed bands playing there many times, and I have no idea which one we saw.

One of the most frustrating ones was the Tony Levin Band. I saw them twice, and they don't show up at all. It's doubly frustrating, since Tony blogs so much, he doesn't give a date. He's been blogging since the mid nineties, and his website has a lot of info, but for one of those tours, all he has is a page marked "spring 2002", with photos of each show, and only the cities labeled. For the other tour, there is no record on his site.

I had been searching for the date of a Cheap Trick show, and a fansite had it, but listed on the wrong date. The date given was not during the run of the festival. No help there.

I also did a lot of searching through my and Cyn's journals. We don't have a lot of early entries tagged, so I had to skim through the titles in the calendars, month by month. I know I have record of some of these shows buried in some boxes somewhere. Like festival lineups on handouts, and such.

I also don't know who opened for a lot of shows. I may have to start e-mailing people.

There are roughly 250 concerts listed, and more bands than that. I listed a lot of comedy shows. I only made one post about classical orchestra concerts, except if there was a really big name soloist. I didn't list many local bands, like the ones we see in bars, unless they opened for someone big, or if I had something to say about the show.

Be sure to check out the tags for particular bands. I spent weeks on this. I hope someone enjoys it. :-)

The one here is less public than the DW journal?
They look the same to me (checked both out)
Or do I have to friend you and you me to see locked posts=?
*confused*

I want to browse this at leisure...
I see some bands I want to read about!

No, they're both the same. But that's the one I'm going to advertise to my friends and family, to keep that distance between them and my LJ.

I will someday have time to peruse this. Maybe i will someday even have time to create my own similar account of concerts attended, in spite of not saving most concert tickets.
