There is a lot of conservative outcry due to the effect of the combined reporting tax structure. They say that Harley Davidson's taxes went up by 22 million dollars. This isn't true. They had a one-time payment to the state of $22M, but their income taxes, which were $22.6M in 2006, went down to less than one million dollars in 2008. On the other hand, I've heard that a lot of businesses have left the state citing combined reporting, but Harley should not be used as an example.
