Yesterday, Cyn saw a link on CNN to the Flickr group, Looking Into the Past, where they superimposed vintage and current photos of the same location, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I got out a book of historic photos of a nearby town, grabbed my camera, and went off to replicate some photos. Tonight, I had a chance to overlay them.

This was the Milwaukee Electric Railway's interurban station, on Center Street in Cedarburg, 1908. Note that after they removed the tracks, they lowered the street and added the steps down to it. The building is now the Ozaukee Historical Society, if I recall correctly.

This was the last run of the interurban train, on March 31st, 1948.

The Chimes movie theater. The photo was taken in 1922 or later. Movie posters on the walls are:
The Jack-knife Man (1920)
Thomas Meigham (not sure what film, but he was the top box office star of 1923)
Man to Man starring Harry Carey (1922)
Wild Honey (a 1922 Drama film directed by Wesley Ruggles, starring Priscilla Dean)
The Blue Bandanna starring William Desmond (1919)
High and Dizzy starring Harold Lloyd (1920)
The building is now apartments, with a storefront. When I was a kid, my dentist was in this building. The waiting room was in the front, behind the big glass front. Later on, my dad lived in a little one-room apartment in the back.
