Dennis was just over here at my desk. He saw the Mercury Seven on my Smithsonian Air and Space calendar. He named all seven of the astronauts. I expressed surprise, and he said that he grew up with them. He said that Grisson made seven orbits and died in the Apollo I fire. He said that Shepard was the first one in space but didn't fly again until Apollo. Carpenter made a mistake and landed two hundred miles off taget and was fired. He remembered which one was the first man to sleep in space. Dennis scares me sometimes.

I know a guy named Grissom, who is related to the late astronaut, somehow. (And who was also a distinguished boy scout.)
