One of our strands of tree lights went bad. Since I had to buy another strand or two, I thought I'd convert to LED. I'm going from about 80 watts to 16 watts. I'm not sure about the look of the lights. The style of bulb doesn't look as nice - it's more of an evenly lit bulb, than a bright little point of light. And they've added a fuchsia colored bulb to the traditional four colors, so the overall tree is cooler in color.

We talked about switching to LED next year. Will you post a picture of your tree?

Love the icon!

Probably.

Those new-color lights are the same color as your icon.

I think you will like them, once you get used to them!

I'm thinking of picking up a bunch of incandescent strands on sale at the end of the year, so in a decade or so, I can go for the nostalgic look. :-)

I managed to get enough of the new LEDs in the C7 size (one size "down" from the original size OLD lights) at the after Christmas sales to light my entire tree this year.

I don't have any pink added.. I still just have the red yellow green blue and orange.. but the fact that I can plug them ALL into ONE OUTLET (up to 87 strands.. I have 14, could have used 16) using the same power.. that makes up for .. just about anything.

I still want to replace my mini whites outside, and my mini multis on the HUGE TREE at some point, but the mini led lights seem to sell out before Christmas.

I will keep trying though.

I want to put lights on the house next year. I was thinking of buying incandescent on sale for cheap, but that's a good point about the power consumption. I'd need quite a few strands, and I don't have that many outlets out there. And it's nice that they go end-to-end, for the house.

Orange would have been nice. I like the fuchsia well enough, but the tree is very cool. Orange would have helped balance it. Not knowing how many strands I'd need, I got one extra. I'm going to take all the red and yellow off of it, and replace some of the blue, fuchsia and green with them.

That sounds pretty.

Back when I was decorating inside and out with lights, I would blow circuits every year. There are 2900 of the old style mini lights on the big giant tree, and I had to have four outlets just to plug it in.. and two boxes of replacement fuses to get through the month. THAT is enough to turn me off to any of the old style lights. I need to just start tossing some of those outside lights that I haven't used in years.

I still have baggies full of the little mini white lights that my mother had that big giant tree lit with.

Honestly? I am thinking of having the big giant tree hauled to the auction... just to get rid of it.
