Our garbage man always sends us a Christmas card. I'd be inclined to tip him if (1) I knew a way to leave him the money without it going in the garbage, or (2) he didn't sort my recyclables and throw the inappropriate materials on the grass.

The last part of that sentence made me laugh out loud.

I wonder about giving a x-mas present to the mailman. I could not figure out how to give anything to the garbage man, either.

Our garbage man takes the plastic caps off the plastic bottles, and also takes out the can lids, even when they don't have sharp edges on them. So I never tip him. And wonder if the reason he throws this stuff on our lawn is because we never tip him.

Our mail carrier is pretty good, but I'd have to see her, in order to give her anything. I'm sure that if I left a gift in the box, she'd be off that day, and it would disappear.

Evidently Grafton is more particular than Milwaukee. I just throw all that stuff in--I think I've read that they do some sorting when it gets turned in by the collector.

At work we have 6 dumpsters. 4 for trash and 2 for cardboard. We all carefully break down boxes and make sure everything goes in the right dumpster and then I saw the garbage men dump everything in one truck!
