A couple of months ago, the Quizno's closed. I was disappointed because that's just about the only fast food place I go to. They're good.

Shortly there after, the Paramount restaurant closed. This was a classy place here in Grafton. Some said it didn't fit in here, but I thought it was great. We ate there a few times. Would have been more, but they were expensive.

Acquaintances of ours owned a liquor store that closed. They were in debt and were closed as of December 31st. That was a real disappointment. We did most of our liquor shopping there. We drink a lot of wine. Now we got to buy it at the grocery store. There's another liquor store in town, but it looks kinda cheap. I guess I should check it out. I like to keep my money as local as possible. There's another liquor store not too far away, where I buy the higher end stuff, but they're kindof a chain.

Harry W. Schwartz books is closing. They're a three-store independent bookseller. I always shpped there when I could. Though they didn't have the selection of one of those Barnes & Noble or Borders supermarkets, but they weren't overpriced like Borders and they were fair sized for an independent, I could usually find what I needed. They'd been in business since the '20's, I think. Fortunately, two of their stores are being pruchased by their managers, including the one just down the road in Mequon.

Quizno's opened back up. I heard the guy who owned it was going through a divorce and shut down several of his stores. Someone else picked it up. That was good to see, but I'd rather it'd been one of the other places that reopened.

I just heard that Atomic Records is closing. Everyone else seemed to know that (I heard the tail ends of a couple of conversations, but never the part where they said it was closing). That's disappointing too. They're a Milwaukee institution. I never shopped there a lot, since they handled mostly indie/alternative stuff (and were a bit expensive), but I'd stop in now and then, and I spent my share of cash over the years.

And don't forget Schwartz's book store.

It's all so depressing!

I'm not sure what has closed here in town, but there must be some places?
