We lived in Alaska while there was a big research project going on along the coast (we didn't live on the coast, but traveled there a lot) to study the effects of DDT's on the eggs, back in the mid seventies. They don't stay in flocks but the numbers made is seem like they did.
I was pleased to see that the big predator bird I see evidence of on my property in Ark. could in fact be a bald eagle. My sister "flushed" it while feeding on a rabbit one year. Scared the hell out of my sister! *laughing* Big birds make a LOT of noise flying up out of trees.
