I picked up the Neil Peart book I had been reading earlier this year. It had been on the fireplace since I didn't intend to leave it that long. I had to blow off the spiderwebs - and a spider.

I tried to relax with a glass of Highland Park (Neil prefers The Macallan), but the book was not conducive to it. Much of the chapter was devoted to Neil's experiences in Florida, three-quarters of which were bad. The rest of the part I read was his rather hurried journey through the southeast. In addition, I was shooting for an hour's reading, but the chapter is easily two hours long (my hour was bounded by bedtime, or I would have continued).

But still, it was a comfortable book to fall back into.

Well. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has bad experiences in Florida.

I was thinking of you when I read it. He talks a lot about the horrible drivers.

I'm thinking the horrible drivers are the ones that moved there from the northeast, because they drive just as badly there too.

I've done that since childhood. Mom would call up and tell me it was time to turn off my light and go to sleep. I'd say "I just want to finish this chapter" and then I'd slide into the next chapter and need to finish that.

One night, as an adult, and retired, I got so interested in a book I just kep reading and reading and reading. At 3am I finished the book.
