I lived in two different Victorian Homes in Pennsylvania when I was a youngster. They both had silverfish, centipedes, rats in the basement, big spiders, and things that would die inside of the double built walls and then stink for days. They also were very hard to heat. They were beautiful to look at though...

I've had some of those problems in every house I've lived in, regardless of age. The other problems I have never had. Some of those problems don't exist in San Francisco, like heating. And they don't have screens on their windows because they don't have a bug problem.
