From an article I saw on CNN today:
"We're here to show our support for John McCain and Sarah Palin," Easterling tells me. "We like their strategy on the economy and everything they say. He's an honest man, he doesn't lie and she's the same."

Most of all though, Easterling doesn't like Barack Obama. "I'm scared to death of him," she admits. "I'm scared of what he stands for, the whole nine yards. He hangs with the terrorists and he lies. He never tells the truth and he's a flip-flopper. He's not to be trusted."

Hardenburgh meanwhile has picked out a badge featuring a mocked-up image of a stars-and-stripes bikini-clad Palin wielding a rifle with the slogan "Caribou Barbie Shoot First!"

"That's what I like about her, right there," he says, pinning it to his Harley Davidson jacket.

I cna't believe people like this are allowed to go out in public by themselves. First of all, McCain always tells the truth, and Obama always lies? What in the fuck? Are you stupid? What rock did you crawl out from under, and why couldn't it have hit you a little harder?

Second, the rest of the stuff? Why do people believe this garbage? Terrorists, flip-flopper, shoot first, everything they say. Again, what in thee fuck? Look, if you prefer McCain's tax plan over Obama's, fine. But at least have the sense to disagree over real issues.

us and them

a lot of people lack the mental capacity to see beyond the world as it might be described to a five year old. good and evil. right and wrong. lies and the truth. there is no room between. we are right and they are wrong. we are good and they are evil. we tell the truth and they lie.

I think you're absolutely right. But for a lot of other people, they still have to choose one candidate or the other. And they choose to believe whatever supports their beliefs.

"I can't believe people like this are allowed to go out in public by themselves." Exactly! I used to work with a man who would say of people like that "How do they find food?"

I usually say "how do they dress themselves?" but maybe they have help?

Makes me have a Very Bad Reaction when I hear about stuff like that. It scares me that for some people the stuff you describe ARE "real issues".
:/

Me too...It's just so frustrating. I just keep reminding myself that going for the Big Bad Leader is an instinctive thing for us primates, and some of us can see better than that, and some really really can't.

what really sucks is I have relatives that talk like that. I avoid them like Ebola...can't deal. Ugh.

Don't get me started on some of my relatives.

This is why I believe people should have to pass an aptitude test in order to register to vote (and breed, and borrow money).
