Have you seen video of Cedar Rapids? An estimated 9.2 square miles, or 1,300 blocks, were flooded. The downtown is underwater. The river was twelve feet over it's record height, set in 1926. Say what you want about people living in a flood plain, but when your land has never flooded before, why should you expect a problem?

I wonder size wise, how it compares to New Orleans when it was flooded.

We know exactly where it flooded as we lived in Cedar Rapids for 3 years back in the 80's. The river flooded when we lived there but not as bad as what has happened this year. Thank goodness we lived several miles away from the river at the time.
