Let me preface this by saying it doesn't apply to any LiveJournalers.
I'm really tried of hearing how bad the weather is. We're having a record year for snow, and just about every week, the temperature drops below zero for a night or two. I understand that this is a pain in the ass. I just don't want to hear your constant griping. Constant... griping. It's been like this for weeks, and it's liable to continue for weeks. This is February in Wisconsin. Consider yourself lucky that we had warm, and for the most part snow-free Februaries for the last ten years or more. And stop saying that you haven't seen the sun in weeks. I know once or twice a week isn't much, but
it's not true.
I swear, if I hear "enough is enough!" one more time I'm going to smack you.
Here are some positives to think about. It's been cold, so all that snow has been light and fluffy, rather than wet and heavy. Even the cloudy days are bright due to the snow on the ground. Snow cover is good for your garden and lawn. Having sixty-degree days in February is not normal. What we're getting now is not so far extreme to the opposite. This keeps snowblower manufacturers and plow drivers in business. I know people in both categories. [edit - one more] I've gotten a lot of exercise this year!

Our snow has been wet and heavy and icy. I think it's been different than your snowfalls. We have not had much sun, except for a few days here and there, and though it's normal some of us simply love sunshine. It makes for brighter colors and brighter outlooks. However, it also makes for floods. I think that it's been glummer at our house because worry about the flooding...
Yup... you are right about keeping people in business. We have a local ski area that really has been HARD hit the last few years! I'm not sure that they are still in business. And, it's only February so we will be due for lots more. One of my best friends has a son who makes a big income off of snowplowing. I don't wish him ill!
Please forgive me if I still wish I were in Kaua'i with the bright colors, mostly gentle rains, and lovely smells...

Date: 2008-02-15 01:12 am (UTC)From:I just saw in the paper where they said we've only seen the sun three times so far this month. I had no idea it was that little. Of course that's one or two times a week, so that's about what I was saying.
My friend who plows, recently lost his job, so he's happy to be able to pick up all the plowing work.

But I hear you. Won't stop me from being cranky, but I did reflect today that it's been years since I've sung my, "I hate Wisconsin" song, invented during my first March in my beloved state.
And!

Date: 2008-02-15 03:54 am (UTC)From:There are things I hate about winter. Brown ground, for example. Many people prefer that over white ground. What good is cold without snow? And I hate when it gets cold after warming up. Once we've had spring, I don't like going back to winter.
