I went to work, for a while

I did a half day. 10:00 until 2:30. I had just decided to stick it out until 6:00 or so, when the roads would probably be in better shape, when I remembered that our parking lot probably wouldn't be cleared by then. I went to the conference room, to see what the lot looked like, and there were a lot of people leaving, and some were having trouble getting out of the parking lot. So I left.

Visibility was pretty limited. There wasn't any pavement showing, and it was bright out, so there was no differentiation in the snow, so I had to try to guess where my lane was based on where the ditches were, and hope there weren't any drifts in front of me. It was a tricky drive.

I don't know yet. I just went out, but didn't check. At least ten inches total.

Weather report said most areas were 11 to 13 inches.

I'm glad you made it home safely. I've had you at the back of my mind since this morning.

My sister Joyce and I started out from Des Moines, one April, headed for Minburn. The Interstate wasn't bad but the rest of the drive over was just like you described. Joyce followed a truck. Luckily for us, he stayed on the road.

The guy ahead of me tended to stay in the middle of the road. I'm not sure if he was just staying as far away from the ditch as he could, or if he really thought that's where the lane was. I'm sure he got nervous when the bus went by him. :-)
