When I was a kid, pancakes were one of my favorite foods. I'd always eat them until I was stuffed. We went out for crepes on sunday (I had one filled with mint chocolate chip ice cream, and covered with hot fudge). And we talked of waffles. So now I'm wanting waffles. I think I need to get a waffle iron. I have an antique cast iron Montgomery Ward waffle iron. I tried it once, and couldn't get it to work. I used to go to George Webb late at night and get their French toast. Not the best in the world, I'm sure, but it was good. Butter and syrup. Mmm. I've made stuffed French toast - thick slices of french bread, stuffed with strawberry preserves and cream cheese, then dipped in egg/milk and fried. MM, as well.

We used to have Karo, occasionally, when I was a kid, when we had little money.

Cyn usually has applesauce on her pancakes. Recently we discovered how good apple butter is on them.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll pass. I'd probably only use it twice. :-)

I'd probably eat Eggos straight out of the toaster, in the car on the way to work.

"I'd probably only use it twice."

lol
that's exactly why i'm trying to give it away :p it just takes up space!!

eggos are really a pretty good breakfast food! the low fat ones are only 60 cal/waffle & there are blueberry ones too... yum.

There were so many people talking about pancakes here at LJ yesterday (it was Pancake Day in the UK) and what happened? Manolo and I both got a serious craving for waffles.
lol
Time to break out the waffle iron we haven't used in ages.

We went to a place called the Waffle House in Florida last week. Now one would think you would have lots of waffles to pick from. Silly us to think that. We had a choice of a plain waffle, one with chocolate chips, one with pecans. They said they were the size of a plate so I ordered one. They didn't tell me it was a luncheon plate!

Tom ordered a double waffle and they brought one at a time. Not a good place to eat and I won't even discuss what the bathroom looked like.

lol!
i guess they don't have many waffle house's in wisconsin??

some of them can be very good for an all around breakfast type place & then again, some can be very greasy/trashy. it all depends on the restaurant.

No, they don't have them up here. When were were in Tennessee last, they had them about every half mile. Sometimes you could see more than one at a time.

We maybe should have tried the Waffle Room instead of the Waffle House. LOL This one was the greasy/trashy variety.

My Dad owned a waffle place in MN and had a variety of waffles to pick from and that is all they served. I thought that was what we were going to.

Pancakes... mmmmm... it's only been about a month since I last had breakfast out, including pancakes.

I can't remember the last time I had waffles, though...

I think the last time I had one was at a motel last summer. Some places have a little breakfast bar, and actually have a waffle iron, and they put out cups of batter so you can make your own.

i love anything i can smother in maple syrup and butter. I've never been one for all the flavors of pancake and waffle toppings. Serve it straight up with buttah and syrup. mmmmmm!

I like lots of different things they put on pancakes. But I usually just have syrup.

The White Gull Inn in Door County serves stuffed French toast like that. Only difference--they use cherries instead of strawberries because, well, it is Door County.
