I wasn't aware of the MVI format. I saw this on Wikipedia tonight.
Snakes & Arrows is one of the first albums released on Warner Music's "MVI (Music Video Interactive) format." This format is a 25,000 copy limited edition. The album comes in a deluxe box, and includes the 13 songs on the album in hi-resolution audio, the entire album in 5.1 surround sound, a 40 minute video documentary on the making of the album, 26-page booklet (4 pages more than the otherwise identical CD booklet), wallpapers, buddy icons and an exclusive poster for fans that register the MVI copy. After continuous production delays, the album was released on June 26, 2007.

Has anybody heard this, or any of the MVI discs? Is the hi-res 5.1 sound worth it? Does it improve the mix?

And what about Vapor Trails? Are they ever going to release a remastered version? It seems like an MVI special edition with a crapload of bonus items would be the perfect way to release this record - perfect for the record company, anyway. They'd get to rake in the dough as all the Rush fans flocked to buy the expensive new version of the otherwise unlistenable record. And they wouldn't even have to admit that somebody screwed up in the first place.

...I'll have to see if I can find my King Crimson DVD that allows you to change the viewing angle (and at the same time puts the artist in the view on the center speaker). It's pretty cool... it came out after Vrooom.

I've got that one. It's a good show. The way they talked about it, it sounded like it was the first time that had ever been done. I've got a Rush DVD with similar.

I meant to post this to the Rush community.
