bookmarks? hello? *echoes*

All my bookmarks vanished. They were just gone when I opened up Firefox, the other day. I've still got my huge list in IE, but it hasn't been updated in a year or so, since I stopped using it.

i remember that happened to me once - it had something to do w/the user profile.

i now use http://del.icio.us for my bookmarks (you can find a firefox add on to tag the pages) and it works great. they are stored online so you can use them no matter where you are (but they're also accessible via your own browser.) it's not all cluttered like my bookmarks used to be and you can tag pages you like w/various keywords so that you can find the bookmark easily. i love it... i will never go back to browser specific bookmarks!

That did the trick. Thanks! (Again!) The computer locked up the other day, and I had to shut it down with the big red button.

del.icio.us sounds interesting. I prefer a hierarchical format, but Firefox's bookmarks are nearly unmanageable - literally, since I can't specify the order the items or folders appear in. But tagging ought to work pretty well. I may have to try this out. Thanks again!

i've started using a web version of bookmarks, too, so i have them backed up somewhere.

For Firefox, there are also FEBE and CLEO... back-up bookmarks and extensions, make single packages with it all in, and then you can restore them later, move them to other machines, etc...

I had that happen once, and magically the whole thing popped back up. Thank goodness because I'm useless.
