The Sioux "withdrawal"

I posted, the other day, about the Lakota Sioux withdrawing from treaties, and setting up their own sovereign nation within the US. I thought this was a bit strange, and didn't quite understand it. I posted it without comment, mainly as a statement about Fox News. They removed some very important info about the reasons why this was happening - reasons without which could make the people involved look worse to the average person (who reads FOX).

I've found more info about it. The leader, Russel Means is not a tribal leader, he's an activist. Apparently, he leads only three other people who support him in this initiative.
