I haven't been able to get to sleep easily, in a long time. It's usually midnight or 12:30 that I get to bed, and I lie there for half an hour to an hour before finally falling asleep. Last night I didn't get to bed until 1:30, and didn't fall to sleep until after 2:00. I woke up at 6:00, and didn't get back to sleep for a while, and then my alarm came on at 7:15. So that's less than five hours of sleep. Even so, I'm sure tonight won't be much different.

You're Getting Sleepy... Your Eyes Are Getting Heavy
Date: 2007-12-12 07:32 am (UTC)From:They also say you should try to avoid eating or thinking about things that annoy or agitate you before bedtime. Try to make it a comforting, peaceful time when you put all problems away until the morning. I don't know if you have such issues, but these are typical pieces of advice.
And they also say some people need a "cooling down" period, where you have some time, maybe an hour or so, to get mentally and physically prepared to sleep. If you have been working hard physically, sometimes you just need the time to let your body unwind and relax. This could include meditation, quiet time, etc.
Finally, setting up a routine or set of rituals you perform daily helps all of that stuff. A series of steps you take each night before bed could help you prepare.
Best luck with the snoozefest!

Thanks!
