So I got a cell phone. I spent the last couple of days playing with it and learning how it works. I finally got web access with it tonight. But I still couldn't e-mail my photos. It turns out that that is extra. Why the fuck didn't they tell us that when we bought the damn camera? Seems like they would have been happy to sell me most stuff. Maybe it's because they wanted to hook me with a free camera phone? I was already a customer. And now they've pissed me off. Fifteen or twenty-five bucks a month is a lot of money for "just in case I want to take some pictures with my phone." But if I don't pay it, my camera phone is useless. Did I mention I'm pissed that they didn't tell me that right away, rather than make me spend a couple of days trying to get it to work?

Maybe I'll wait until my phone is full, and pay the $25 then.

These last couple of days have been really annoying.

How much does that plan cost?

We're on Working Assets Wireless. Cyn has had them for many years for her landline, and been happy. She had a cellphone with them for the previous two years, and never had any trouble. Service is fine (they use the Sprint network), but customer service leaves a bit to be desired.

* Nationwide Long Distance
* Crystal Clear Calls
* Voice Mail
* Caller ID
* Call Waiting

I get all of that except the first four items, for the same price. Actually, two phones for $60, with 500 minutes (more than we'll use). So $25 more for unlimited picturemail seems a bit much.

yeah, we have two phones which total $60/month w/500 mins each (also more than we use) so it's a pretty good deal since it has the internet/picture mail/free mobile to mobile (my inlaws also have sprint so it's free to call between us all).

Having to pay for it wouldn't have bothered me so much if I'd known that beforehand.

Same thing happens here in Spain although it´s getting better. They sell you on something and then divulge the extra charge later but while they´re selling, make it seem like it´s included in the monthly charge (without really saying so, of course, to cover their backs but they have the "language" down just so).
:/

I purposefully wanted a cell phone for the kids that did NOT have picture capabilities on it. At school, we've seen that Tomfoolery is too easily encouraged with picture snapping in locker rooms, etc...

When I asked for a phone with no photo application, you woulda thought I'd asked for a car with no seatbelts.

Did you ask for it without text messaging too? ;-)

We're on verizon's family plan, which does not have texting built into the fee; they're very clear about that in the plan descriptions. So each time there's texting going on, I think it costs an extra 10 cents or something(it may be more)

I told G if he wants the $9.95/month text all you want added on and figured into the monthly bill, he can pay for it.

He pffted it; he thinks texting is rather lame. So I think we've had a couple of bitty charges for kids that texted him once, but he told them to cut it out LOL

I see that spellcheck doesn't like the words "texted" and "texting" as verb forms. hmm. I think I'll add them to my scrabble dictionary. oh! ah ha ha! spellcheck isn't a word either. pfft.
