low_delta: (Rush)
I've got over 1600 songs on my computer. I was playing them on shuffle the other night, as I was e-mailing my friend Phil about the Rush concert. He had mentioned that he thought this was the first time in a while that they played "Subdivisions." I was telling him that they just played it last tour, and describing the video they used at the time. I wasn't halfway into the sentence when "Subdivisions" started playing.

OOOoooOOooo.

Sprawling on the fringes of the city
In geometric order
An insulated border
In between the bright lights
And the far unlit unknown

Growing up it all seems so one-sided
Opinions all provided
The future pre-decided
Detached and subdivided
In the mass production zone

Nowhere is the dreamer
Or the misfit so alone

You and your computer have been assimilated. You are one and the same. Borg!

I wasn't ignoring you--I got sidelined. It made me think of Malvina Reynolds and "Little Boxes". Completely different type song but kind of the same subject. The cookie cutter suburbs. "And they all came out the same."

No problem. Just curious.

I'll have to check that out - Spirit of Radio did it for me:

"All this machinery
Making modern music
Can still be open-hearted"

Lovely.

"Subdivisions" was leading into their "synth era," where their music did get a little colder, but it was less heavy, if you're into that sort of thing.

I didn't steal them. Just the one. Haven't felt the need to use it lately, though. :-) I'm just saying I like them. As someone with hundreds of userpics, you should expect people to like some.

I'm still snorting ;)

Hundreds! Only 129! Such a strange number, dontcha think? And YOU are the reason this madness began, remember?! I blame YOU! ;)

I like me some pick-chures.

Do you need a kleenex?

Are you maxed out with your 129? Mine is "Currently uploaded: 38 out of 139."

Hey, there's a "Get notified when they upload a new one" link. I wonder if I should do that?

No, but I could use a tissue if you have one. ;)

I'm SO MAD that LJ won't let me be one of those special users who started e...oh yeah, "Early Adopter". Ya'll get tons of pics no charge! :(

And, you're very funny. I never understood that feature. Now it strikes me that it was developed just for you. ;)

*sigh* I over-emoticon.

Sure, no problem. ;-)

I missed being an early adopter by a month or less. All of my friends who came from that other place got in on time, but I was slow.

One emoticon per paragraph is fine. ;-)
