party and wedding

Yesterday, we had a get together with friends of mine from high school (and wives and kids). There were a couple dozen people there, including the kids. Bill has a track for Mini 4WD cars (picture), so he suggested we meet at the mill, where he has his cabinet shop. There is some vacant space, so we set up there. There is also a deck overlooking the river, so we spent some time out there too. We had the grill out there, and we ate badly. We had a good time though, and stayed later than we thought we would.



Today, we attended the wedding of my stepsister. It was a beautiful afternoon in the park, if a little windy. The events, unfortunately, were a little dull. The officiant of the ceremony read a single, long speech. Then the vows were similarly long. Then we stood around while everyone wondered what to do or where to go. Then we went inside and had food. Then we drove home.

The couple's daughter was the flower girl, and his daughter was the ring bearer. Both very cute.

Yeah, people tell me that all the time. :-) I've also had people tell me I look a lot like my mom, but I don't see it. Years ago, I decided it was probably because of the expressions on my face.

I generally don't see any resemblance between Beth and her mom. And never having seen Beth's dad before yesterday, I was struck by their resemblance. She and her mom do look similar in this picture, but I think it's their expressions.

The sights were pretty today, at least. I like the white dress with the red trim on the little girls and the bride.
