We had made plans to get together with some friends to see a band in the park. The radar showed rain coming, but we hoped it would hold off for a while. It started at the same time they did. Cyn and Pat had a big umbrella. Dennis and I did not. We got soaked. At least it was reasonably warm, and not windy. After a while, we moved back under a pine tree. It helped a bit, and it helped a bit to be standing, but we still ended up leaving a short time later. I think Cyn and Pat (who were relatively dry) were the ones pushing to leave.

Dennis and I were scout leaders together for many years, so this was just like old times. We went on a lot of camping trips where the weather was much worse than this was.

I picture scouts soaked with rain passing time by having contests for the wettest fart.

Mind you, I never was a scout.

Overactive imagination of what boys do when they're muddy and confined?

Maybe you're thinking of a different kind of scout?

It's amazing what some boys endure. You went under a TREE? I was never a scout but somehow that kind of seems... wrong? I take it that there was no lightening?

This weather is just... too much.

No, no lightning.

"That's no excuse!"

So who was the band that was worth getting drenched?

The band was De La Buena, a Latin Afro-Cuban thing. It wasn't so much that they were that great, but that we were planning on meeting Dennis and Pat (and hadn't seen them all year), so we went out. And once we were there, we weren't going to run away just because of a little water. But then it became a lot of water.

But the band is pretty good.

I like that Latin Afro-Cuban thing. I have a couple of cds that found me, rather than me finding them, and I enjoy them a lot. I have NO idea where they are.

I hope you had a good time with your friends, regardless.

At the end, even though I was thoroughly soaked, I wasn't in a hurry to leave. I was having a good time hearing the music and talking to Dennis.

There are worse things than being soaked, that's for sure. And soaked with good music and friends is hardly even an inconvenience. IF yer a rough and tumble sort of folk, which I gather thou art.

I don't know about rough and tumble, but I tend not to let things bother me.
