We had four days of rain. Two inches one morning. One inch today. You've probably seen all the flooding on the news. Several people killed across this part of the country. It's not that bad here, but I sure had bad timing with starting this garden. I wish I'd done it a month ago like I wanted. The one thing I was happy about was that I wouldn't have to water the grass seed I put down. I'm starting to wonder if all the grass seed is going to rot or get washed away.
But it was sunny today. I watched out the window all day, saying, "I hope I can still work outside when I get home." At 4:00, I noticed it had gotten cloudy. I checked the radar, and sure enough, there was a line of storm two counties away. I did a quick calculation, and decided it was an hour to an hour and a half away. Since an hour is enough time to get eleven plants in the dirt, I rushed home. I changed clothes, fed the cat, put my shoes on, stepped onto the grass and the thunder cracked. >:-( I thought it still might hold off for a little bit, so I got the shovel and started digging. It started raining. I got a tarp to put over the garden, to keep the soil from getting any more waterlogged.
After all that, when I checked the radar, the entire southern part of the state had rain. Still does. Where did it come from? Even after it started, today's forecast on Weather Underground said it would be mostly cloudy today. Wrong. It was sunny, mostly, and then thunderstorming.
