What's a good airline? What's a bad airline? For a domestic US flight (so we're not flying Air Canada)?

I've had nothing but positive experiences with American Airlines.

Me too!

I've never had a problem with Air Canada. Why don't you want to use them?

1. Because somebody on my friends list, just today, posted a horrible adventure with them.

2. They don't fly to Hawaii.

3. But thanks for the info.

At another bbs i saw a post today about someone whose horrid adventure was that their luggage was lost and the air terminal people weren't friendly....

If that's a bad adventure, then their life is pretty good.

Haha .. smart move about not wanting to fly Air Canada.

Most airlines in general suck .. and I'm an ex-travel agent!

Aloha Airlines. I love them. Lots of legroom in coach, and they give you warm chocolate chip cookies and milk.

that would be enough for me to use um! :p

I've found that Continental has great customer service - on the phone, via email, and in person.

American Airlines is usually pretty good, too. United is OK.

I've heard lots of good stuff about JetBlue and will try it for my first time next month.

I tend to avoid Northwest due to some negative experiences with them.

Ah, specifically Hawaii. I think I used SunTrips the two times I went to Hawaii, and they were fine. Here's a comparison of Aloha and Hawaiian Airlines: http://www.andhawaii.com/hawaii-vacation-articles/aloha_airlines.html

In case you're traveling to/through Honolulu, here's the list of the airlines using its airport: http://www.hawaii.gov/dot/airports/hnl/hnl_airlines.htm (Oh, yeah, I used to like American West, but think they may have gone downhill in recent years, I don't know for sure.)

i like continental. we're using them this 13-17 to fly to tx. they always seem to have the lowest rates and i've never had any probs w/them (i've used them several times). i also like their online checkin.

ken likes delta too because he flys them for many business things but i don't know anything about them.

I have a strong preference for Continental. When Les still lived in Florida, I flew a lot. My experiences with Continential have been uniformly positive, and what's more is I think they're still solvent.

I will be honest, though, and mention that I don't really see any of my flights as being head and shoulders above the rest. I missed being able to listen to the pilots and the air traffic controllers, something they only allow on Delta.
Rather, something I've only had consistent access to on Delta. I don't know if other airlines do/don't allow it, but that wasn't available on my other flights.

Also, I just reviewed your comments, and I think Continental is emerging as the airline of choice!

in general, i think most airlines are about the same....i've had both good and poor experiences on Alaska, Northwest, American, Hawaiian, Aloha, Continental, Delta, Air Canada and America West.....Frankly, the only airline I've had an overall great experience on was Aeroflot. I tend to look at the equipment that they are using....i prefer to stay away from MD and Airbus aircraft....

One of my friends who's done a bit of international travel recommends: overseas, if you can, fly on Boeing-made aircraft. He told me Boeing's contracts stipulate that Boeing does the maintenance and Boeing trains the pilots. I don't know if he was feeding me a line, or if it's kosher, but
I've done my best to follow that advice and it hasn't hurt me yet. :)

My exceptional Aeroflot flight was on a Boeing 777. And I prefer Boeing aircraft normally. I like the design of the Boeing wing. I know that Airline companies in the US do a lot of the day to day maintenance on Boeing aircraft. So, when choosing a US carrier, choose one with a happy maintenance staff.

Yeah, course.

Qantas. Definitely Qantas.

*L* Yeah, Qantas never crashed.

I get my boxer shorts at KMart.

You wear boxer shorts? Hmm.

Do you also wear army boots? :)

Hm.

American is good. I've had hit/miss with United. Delta are alright in a pinch.

Short story - last time I was in Florida for a launch I ended up extending my stay out by several days. It turned out it would have cost MORE for me to move my return flight home (United) than it would to book a completely new one-way flight on Delta - in fact, it would have cost well over $100 more.
