Cyn and I went down to the Tasting Room to see a close personal acquaintance play. On the way down there I was thinking I would probably be hungry later, and might have to buy one of those frozen bar pizzas.

By Les' second set, the place had quite a few people. At one point I could smell pizza. Les (from the stage) said "pizza's here!" Pretty soon, a pizza delivery guy came over to a nearby table, "did you guys order this pizza?" It was clear that nobody was speaking up. One guy near me said, "Anybody want to go in on it with me? I'll throw in five bucks." I said I'd buy a piece form him. Anonther guy gave him five bucks. I decided, "what the hell," and gave him five. I figured I could be nice and furnish a little food for some of Les' fans. I kinda new some of them anyway. So this guy gave him fifteen plus $1 tip.

He handed the pizza around. It was cold. Not ice cold, but definitely room temperature. I'm thinking that he couldn't deliver it and had it in his car for the last hour trying to get rid of it. The guy who talked us into buying it was more suspicious than that. He was thinking this guy was a dumpster diver. He actually called Papa John's to ask. The woman he talked to there said that a homeless guy (matching this man's description) came in early in the day and asked for some food. So they gave him an old pizza that had been sitting around for a while.

But the guy had a uniform!

I would think that was a real pizza guy trying to get rid of an extra pizza. The odds of a homeless man in a pizza uniform are pretty slim.
And besides, Papa John's pizza rocks all.

That's what we thought too at first. I didn't think he was actually wearing a uniform, but he did look like a delivery man...plain shirt or jacket, baseball-type cap, mustache. I've had some pretty scruffy looking pizza delivery guys at my door in the past. This guy looked clean. I don't usually turn down pizza, but I didn't feel like having any last night. Really glad about that now!

What cracked me up more about the whole thing was that the guy who wanted everyone to go in together to buy this thing was laughing hardest of all. He couldn't believe he got taken like that. He said, "I'm the leader of the Fools! Not only did this guy take me, but I did his sales for him!"

He had a patch on the front of his shirt and cap. I didn't see what it said, but it certainly was a uniform.

I love a man in uniform ;)

What great timing he had too! He showed up just as the bar was baking a pizza and the smell was wafting over us. We all thought the smell was coming from the delivery guy's pizza :)
