Funny how a kid who's 21 years and a week old knows what the best beers are, and have well-formed opinions on which wines he likes the best.

Oh well. At least he likes the good stuff.

I just think it's funny how the kids didn't want to admit to their mother that they drank before they were 21, but after they turned 21, it was obvious that they'd been drinking a while. :-)

But you know, kids drink wine in France. I think if our country was a big wine producer, rather than beer, we might drink more wine. But also, if you didn't need a car to get around as you do in a country of this size, that might also be a contributor to the process.

I'd say knowledge was a good thing, generally... though too much empirical knowledge is not.

Drunk driving is one of the major factors in the strong negative opinion of alcohol. So yeah, if we didn't drive much, drinking probably wouldn't be as big a deal. But then the nation was founded by puritans.

The day I turned 21, I went down to [name of liquor store], grabbed a sixpack of something, and went to the counter. The guy said "man, what's up? you're smiling from ear to ear."

haha. I said "I just turned 21 today" and showed him my license.

he fired back "you jerk, you've been buying beer from me for 3 years! Happy birthday." and laughed.
