I'm agnostic, so I'm not sure God existed in the traditional sense to begin with. So dead? No. I view "God" more in the context of universal energy and nature. That is very much alive.
"But when Zarathustra was alone, he spoke thus to his heart:'Could it be possible! This old saint has not yet heard in his forest that God is dead!'" - Friedrich Nietzsche Thus Spake Zarathustra
"New opinions are always suspected, and usually opposed, without any other reason but because they are already common." - John Locke
In a couple hundred years no one will understand how a silly word like god could have been used to describe something as vast and complex as Nature or the Universe.
