civil liberties?

I read a CNN poll today.

One of the questions was...

Question: Do you think the Bush administration has gone too far, has been about right or has not gone far enough in restricting people's civil liberties to fight terrorism?

Twenty-five percent said they hadn't gone far enough.

Twenty-five percent of respondents think that restricting citizen's civil liberties is a valid tactic in the war on terror.

Twenty-five percent have lost sight of what made the United States of America the United States of America.

Granted, the poll was unscientific, and the question was a dumb one, but how can anybody answer that way, even in a knee-jerk manner?

Really? Can you afford that? I can only hope!

My only question is, are these the same 25 out of 100 people in each instance? It's pretty easy to vilify our opposition by straw manning them, but reality isn't always as cut and dry as a cute little CNN poll. (Or Fox, or well anyone.)

Absolutely. More room, more jobs and more services for me. Now if I can get the other 299.9 million out with her and I can get what I want. Peace and quiet.

Bothered and knee jerk silly reaction are two separate things to me. Luckily I am in charge of nothing. You think this administration curtails or wants to curtail your rights.

How do you know she's making a knee-jerk reaction, and not just an expression of anger? There's a difference.

And yes I do think this administration curtails my rights. My rights as a citizen, law abiding or otherwise, as set out by the Constitution and envisioned by the people who created this country.

I'll bet a dollar she'd regret moving the moment she did. Not that she ever intended that. (It's a she? I have to pay attention to those things more often.)

Who had no idea what they were creating, and would be so quick to agree with the current administration your head would spin. Think about the world they lived in as compared to our own.

They'd pull the plug on cesspool we've made our nation and freedoms into. And this is from a militant antitheist Nihilist. Jesus don't want me as a sunbeam.

I hate both republicans and democrats as equally as...well pretty much everything else. To assign one a better record at completely neglecting it's citizenry is as pointless (to me personally.) as figuring out who has the bigger negative score in a game of hearts.

We're all losing.
