I spoke with my neighbor Dorothy, this afternoon. She told me that her husband had died... a month ago. :-(

I like the idea of having neighbors, and being neighborly. Unfortunately, I've only spoken with the guy across the road once, his wife once, the woman behind us a couple of times, her husband not at all, and Dorothy a few times. The neighbors to the east are not friendly. So how do you keep in contact with people? I don't want to go running over there whenever I see them out - which isn't all that often. I hate knocking on people's doors just to say hi. I guess there's too much space in between our houses.

I wish the neighbors to the east would at least make a pretense of being friendly.

Two of the others I don't care all that much either way.

The one whose husband died is really nice, though. I'd like to speak with her a little more often. Like to find out that her husband had died.
