Tuesday, we (me, Cyn, Shoo) left Shoo's mom's house at noon, and drove down the coast. We stopped at Torrey Pines, and saw the ocean from way up. We had lunch in LaJolla, and found a little beach. We hadn't seen the ocean in the day light, so I wanted to go down there. We saw some big waves, and a flight of pelicans.

We didn't get on the road until 3:00. Not good, since I'd planned on getting to Tucson around supper time. The mountains were great. Especiallly that last, long, steep descent onto the desert floor. That was about the time the sun went down. I was disappointed not to be able to see the desert, but at least we saw the mountains. I know the desert wouldn't have been all that exciting to see, but I still wanted to see it. We arrived at Dave's at 10:00, so it was exactly six hours on the road. Then we checked Shoo in at her motel, got groceries, and got some snacks at a cafe.

Today we went up to the top of Mt. Lemmon. Saw some great sights, and got a lot of pictures.

(Yes, I skipped a bit. I'll tell those stories when I get the chance.)

I'm glad you got to see the ocean! We were in La Jolla a few years ago for a conference. It's nice down there.

I'm glad you got to travel the mountains in daylight. They're wonderful, aren't they?

I've seen the desert and the Atlantic Ocean but never had a good view of the Pacific. Flying over the Pacific and the Rocky Mts isn't the same as "seeing it". I hope you have pictures.

Amazing! Do you drive I8 much? You gotta love that 6% grade that something like ten miles long.

We have hundreds! I shot over seven rolls of film, and at least three hundred pics on the digital.

Ack! my card reader is in my suitcase. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to fix the pictures up right.

So when are you coming to visit? ;-)

Thanks. Something didn't seem right about that name.

And today, I could no longer remember the name of the place we went yesterday. Chiricahua, or something.

We've only driven it about 6 or 7 times. Those grades wreak havoc on truck brakes.
