I saw a bat flying around the back yard. That was cool. I want to put up a bat house. I should have turned on the lights to attract food for it.

If you have bats already.. then a bat house will work to keep them in your area. I live in a place where there aren't many bats.. sadly. One of my favorite passtimes in Arkansas is to sit out at night and watch the bats feed.

I still want to get some bat boxes. We have some at sunset...but not as many as when we lived near the lakes. They love the bugs.

Hmmmm. Mice. . and bats. If you find any snakes I may need to meet you in Cedarburg instead of coming to your house. Eeeeew!

I warned him if he put up a bat house, we'd never see you in our house again.

The bat house wouldn't be in the house!

She wouldn't want them swooping at her as she walks to her car either.

They're not common enough to do that as a pastime. This is the first bat I've seen in years. But I'd like to see them more often.

I wonder what the best way to attach a bat house to a tree is.

Yeah. Eatin bugs. That's a good thing to do... for animals.

Haven't seen any sign of snakes. And I've only seen one bat.

I use screws to attach the blue bird houses to them, but you have to remember to UNscrew it a turn every year.. to allow for the tree to grow. If you don't, the tree will still grow, pushing the house away from the screws.. the screws heads go through the wood.. and eventually the house (about three years has been my experience) falls off the tree.

But I'd want the bat house fairly high up, and not have to climb up there again. I wonder if I used nails, if they'd pull out as the tree grows, or if they'd do the same thing as the screws.

I don't know.. it is worth a try. Nails don't have the same immobility.. so they might get pushed out with the house as the tree grows, and you want that. Just make sure they are long.
