I figured out why this winter is going on so long. It's because I want it to end. Every year, I pray for snow, and I look out with disappointment every January, when the snow melts. I keep up my positive thinking until the daffodils are coming up, and finally give in to spring. My wishes are thwarted.

This year? I was torn between wanting more snow, and wanting it to warm up so I could get some extra work done at the duplex. So it would snow, and then melt. Snow and melt. And more recently, when I'm bearing down on the deadline, and I need it to warm up, winter won't go away. I need to get a car into the back driveway of the duplex, and it's all snow.

Every year, exactly the opposite of what I want.

Winter and summer last forever in the Midwest. That is because there's no such thing as spring and fall here...once winter finally disappears, we get about two weeks of spring-like temperatures, and then BAM! The 90 degree weather shows up and doesn't disappear until sometime in mid-October.

(I'm Melissa, by the way. Since your wife and stepdaughter are both very active members of my friends list, I thought it was time that I got to know the rest of the family!)

I've seen a few motorcyles on the warm days, but I see bicylists on the cold days too. I wonder what's up with that.
Bicyclists are some crazy mofos (and this is coming from a motorcyclist!). One fall, I took my bike (on a whim) on a 30 mi trip down to Liberty State Park wearing nothing but jeans and an Old Navy fleece. The fleece actually kept me warm (along with physical activity) but my legs were so cold they were numb. But it was like crack; and I'd do it again if I had nothing better to do.
