Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Bush "sees world terrorism for the evil that it is," while Democratic opponent John Kerry has no such clear vision.

I was going to try not to complain about the GOP PR convention, because its whole purpose is to make Bush sound like a great guy. You know they're going to exaggerate a lot. But what in the fuck is that supposed to mean? Kerry doesn't see a problem with terrorism?!!

Fuck you Rudy.

Some BS is expected. Some is just wrong.

It won't be long for the bush campaign to start bashing on snack-foods...

No one is a clear as Bush is on Terrorism. Well.....that's what I learned on watching the Fox News coverage of the convention. Yes I did. I went there. It was a hoot.

It makes me feel queasy when politicians use religious terms like "evil." Can't they say "dangerous" or something like that? Some serious damage has been caused by leaders on "crusades" against "evil."

They do it with a purpose. Since it's EVIL, they must do something about, not merely the dangerous event, but the evil men who do the evil. And you know what that means - CRUSADES!

agreed-a-ma-cated.

i actually had a lot of respect
for the way rudy handled 9/11,
however, i never liked his politics
and this is a prime example of his politics~
ew.

my sister, a long-time nyc dweller,
still thinks that rudy killed off the homeless
in order to clean up times square-
she swears those people were "disappeared"!
(i don't go for conspiracy theories,
i'm just sayin')

I thought even worst than that line was the comment that Rudy claimed he made.... "As the towers were falling, I said, 'Thank God George Bush is our President.'"

There were a ton more but I just had lunch and I want to keep it down.

There is a difference between "doesn't see a problem" and "has no clear vision".

Kerry has said that he's opposed to terrorism, but he's shown that he's opposed to taking military action to stop it. So, what *IS* his vision on the necessary actions to end terrorism? He's been terribly unclear on that fact. So, either his vision is unclear, or he has no plan.

I've worked hard to understand his position on issues, but this has turned into a "VIETNAM!" "IRAQ!" shouting match. ::grump::

Giuliani's statement was, "President Bush sees world terrorism for the evil that it is. John Kerry has no such clear, precise and consistent vision."

To say that Kerry has no clear vision for fighting terrorism is not the same as saying that Bush sees terrorism as evil but Kerry doesn't.

It bugs me because to call it "evil" imparts vagueness to it. Terrorism is no longer an event with causes and effects, it's just some intangible thing that is caused by some vague bunch of bad men. Like Muslims. And everyone knows that evil can never really cease. It's like there's nothing we can do about it but pray.

See how that one sentence Bush used increases the polarity between the religions?

"President Bush sees world terrorism for the evil that it is. John Kerry has no such clear, precise and consistent vision."

That's a masterful couple of sentences. Not only is Rudy saying Kerry has no vision, but he's also implying that Kerry doesn't think terrorism is eeeeevil, which is pure rightwing bullshit.

And what's so precise about Bush's approach? Did they catch Osama? That'd be pretty fucking precise.

That's assuming people know the difference between Osama and Saddam.

I wish Kerry would go on the offensive like this and really hammer it every day until these fuckers were gone. It's truly the party dropping the ball if they can't beat a sitting duck.
