Today someone polled his friends on what kind of toilets they have. I was one of the few who either knew or cared to say what brand of toilet they have. I'm that anal.

Actually.... we have an American Standard. White. New in 2001. So it doesn't flush worth a damn. Some kind of new "save the water" standards. Is it just California or all over the country? We have a well for Pete's sake! Why do we have to save water on a stupid flush of the toilet? I've heard there's a black market for old toilets. Errr.. cleaned-up old toilets. Ones that really, really flush like they should. I mean, I'm an environmentalist and all that, but holy moley. This is just *gaggy*. Do I have to go into more detail than that? Can you use your imagination? ;-)

LOL - you're crackin me up

I don't know, all new houses are required to have low flow - and that is what I have. It doesn't flush worth crap.

I think all these puns are *intended* LOL

Are you really anal about your toilet?? ;-)

We have two. One looks like it's as old as the house (about 70 years) except that it doesn't have a high cistern. I don't know who made them. Maybe they're white label. ;~)

cheap low-flows require two flushes, which uses more water than the old toilets.

good/expensive low-flow use high-power high-pressure flushes, but the toilet can be 4-8 times more expensive, so many people don't get them. Oh, and they flush like an airplane toilet, which is loud and fast. Not good for some PVC grade plumbing (we have cast iron outflow, so we'd be good if we changed).

my toilets are sterling elongated bowl units....(sterling is owned by kohler).......they are passable toilets, in my opinion......if i have to replace any, i will be looking at the toto toilets.....

I had a friend who, years ago, named her son Kohler as a first name.
Once he was inspecting the toilet more closely than usual, saw the name brand and demanded "Why did you name me after a TOILET??!!"

At least they don't require two (or more) flushes every time. It bugs me more that you have to check if the first one worked, than that you have to flush it more than once.
