It's an old railroad tunnel. The line was turned into a bike trail.

Someone recently told me of hiking through a tunnel so long that they lost the light at both ends of the tunnel. She commented on what an entirely different experience that was from being in there with a little light showing from one end or the other.

This one's only three quarters of a mile long, but the light still gets a bit small.

It's on the Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail (http://www.elroy-sparta-trail.org/), a little ways east of La Crosse on I90.

Of the three tunnels, the longest one is three quarters of a mile long. It has a little waterfall in the middle. It's pretty wet inside.
