Spelling out a number in a sentence, and then following it with the numeral in parentheses.
I can see doing this in legal documents, but in everyday writing it bugs the hell out of me. Anyone who can't read the word "four" probably can't read the rest of the sentence.
"Unfortunately, it was reported at our weekly Employee Safety Group meeting that a minimum of four (4) skids had been found stored incorrectly."
This sentence just makes me cringe.
