Yeah, I know. I was actually surprised to learn that your overtime brought it to only 44 hours. I'm too used to Silicon Valley heydey overtime hours - like my first husband's, who used to work nearly *70* hours a week. I used to wish fervently that he could get his work *down* to 60 hours per week. *sigh* It was one of the reasons our marriage ultimately disintegrated (and why I was surprised he could find the time to have his affair, because he really was *working* that many hours).
You must be paid hourly? We're salaried and our work week is set at 37.5 hours however, the majority of my group work 9 hour days. Once you've achieved a certain level, no overtime, it's just assumed you'll put the necessary time in to do the job.
Depends on the manager but, ours is pretty good. During the summer, he tells us to leave at 3 pm on Fridays. If we have outside appointments (doctor, dentist, etc.) we aren't docked the time. I think it's a fairly even trade off.
