Get their Pop-up Stopper. It:
• contains no spyware
• uses very few system resources
• is a free download
• prevents malicious html and javascript from popping up windows once a native browser window is already open
• allows you to open new windows with CTRL+N or SHIFT+left click on a hyperlink
I haven't had popup problems in a long time.

Windows+M minimises everything, or Windows+D shows you desktop, which is only rather subtly different. The down side is that it now looks as if you're not doing anything on the computer at all...
