When did you take that one? I've never seen it.

I was in Cedarburg on business yesterday... I saw that wtaer tower from your pic... It was cool, but not as eerie as in your night photo

I really like the photos you post. You have such an eye for composition and color.

Revisiting

I've gone back to stare at this picture some more. The colors are wonderful--and unusual. I'm also thinking color because I've decided to make a lap quilt to use in my bedroom while I'm at the computer. I have two fabrics and need a third. One plain fabric is much the color of the sky. It's pink with just enough gray to look "southwestern". I bought the print several years ago just because it was too lovely not to. It has blossoms and leaves similar to that pink with some other blooms and background much the color of the ground under the feet of the man with the bucket. Also other larger flowers the same color except much much lighter. (Less saturated?)
I'm going to keep the colors of all those trees in mind, as well as the flowered fabric when I choose the third fabric. Also there is that tiny line of black (probably a green/black) that I might put in a thread of.

I know you're not a quiltmaker--I just wanted to share the ideas of the colors with you.

And the boy's shirt is Navy.

There had been a storm that day, so the colors were all odd. The sky was that weird gray and light was coming from the east (it was afternoon), and the lake was brown.

Actually, the one from the photo is no longer there. The one that you saw is similar, though.

I can usually swing time off for lunch, if you wind up in town again. What business did you have business with?

It was at a residence. My Mpls.-based client's client is an insurance company in Milwaukee.

I want you to know I really like this picture. It has a sort of ominous feeling to it. I don't know why.

Funny you should mention that. This was taken near the beginning of a five roll photo excursion, and is one of the least ominous pictures. (There had been a storm.) I had forgotten, but the one I posted the other day, of the abandoned house was from a couple of hours later. How's that one for ominous?

I like the house pic, and I'm particularly curious about the area of negative space on the left, but it's not really very ominous to me. Maybe it's because it's obviously vacant and dilapitated, but it doesn't have that certain...film noir quality I look for in a threatening picture. I do like that house though. I wonder if it has a floor. It doesn't look like it should.

Yeah, it had floors at that point, but I don't think I would have trusted them very far. The fog makes it a little eerie, for me.

Okay, FOG. That explains it. I'm more bothered by the absolute vacancy of the left field of the picture than I am by the house itself. Although I must confess that mangled thing in front of the house gave me a bit of a start at 2:00am. I'm not sure what it is, but it looks very nasty when you are sleepy and oxygen deprived!

Oh. Yeah, fog. I wasn't sure what you meant by "negative space." Did you see the second picture in that post?

And there is a bit of fog in the distance, in this picture too.
