As of this moment, there are 332 comments posted there. I think the most I ever got on any post before now was 120. It took a while to go through my e-mail box. :-)

It's suprising what captures people's imaginations. I thought this would be a lot of fun, but I had no idea. Of course, in the latest game, there are less than twenty-five people posting. *shrug* It's still fun.

And to think it all started with something.

Doesn't everything start with something?

I, on the other hand, started with nothing, and I'm proud to say that to this day, I still have it.

But where is it?

Hmm. I don't have any of that. Too much lint.

Let's make a community for this! I looked around, but I couldn't find one.

I was thinking about it. How would it work? Open membership?

This is what I'm thinking. Open membership, but only you (or people you trust) could post. It should be easy to set up. Anyone can comment. That way, you don't have 20 threads starting daily.

If you need a spare account code, I have one, and I'd be willing to share. E-mail me if you need it. My contact info is in my profile.

Wait, what am I saying? You've got a Perm Account. You probably have tons of codes. Anyway, it's there if you need it.

Well, yeah...
Sorry to sucker you in with that, but it was a cheap set-up for the "where this came from" story.

As I posted it elsewhere...
At work, we have a white board on the wall. One day it was empty. I thought there should be something
on it, so I wrote "something" on it. A week later, Paul thought there should be something new
on the board, so he wrote "new" underneath "something." Pretty soon other people started
adding words, and the rest is history.

Yeah, I've got the code. :-)

I'll do it, but not only do I need a name for it, but I'm not sure of the best way to handle it. I think I'll keep it to limited posting ability. That reduces the chaos. Unfortunately, without posting ability people tend to lose that sense of ownership, and lose interest. Oh well. I'll try it anyway.

I don't think "1word" is taken for a journal name. I'd go with that. I'm sure there are many others you can think of. It will be interesting to see how people react if they can't post themselves, but I think it will still work. If you build it, they will come.

I think I'll start out with it limited, just to set the tone, and then open it up.

How about "onemoreword"?

And I'm wondering what other word games we could get away with posting.

Did you find anything similar while you were looking?

Hey, no need to apologize; it's a cool story. Being an avid fan of wordplay, I enjoyed your recent Add-A-Word game (I hope you don't mind that I've linked to it in a recent journal post, and that I've added you).

Do you know of The Question Game, the basic rules of which can be found in the bio of [livejournal.com profile] thequestiongame? This one (http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=spooble&itemid=230217) reached 412 comments (he's a bit backed up at the moment). If you're ever interested in playing it with me, reply to this post (http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=zonal&itemid=27613).

Yes, Spooble is on my friends list (my g/f was in that game), but I didn't play because I can't devote the time to it. If I played, it would be more like two or three questions a day. I'd play if you didn't mind going that slowly.

And yes, I'm familiar with that movie and that scene. :-) Rosencranz and Guildenstern are Dead

I'm going to start a community for this add-a-word thing. I hope to do it today, yet.

Even one question a day wouldn't be too slowly for me, so feel free. :*) Making a community for the add-a-word game is a great idea.

I *just* did. See [livejournal.com profile] onemoreword.

Neat! Hopefully, we'll get enough membership to make some interesting sentence strings. I couldn't find anything like this in my searches, but it might be hard to find with one specific keyword.

The only other word game I've really thought of was Balderdash. In my ideal world, I would play Balderdash weekly online through various IM programs. Also in my ideal world, my wife wouldn't kill me for this. At one time, I even tried to see if any of my LJ friends would be interested. I got about three or four positive replies, but I never did anything with it. I might have to look into starting that up again.

I used to play that one. I might be interested.
