I got over seven hours of sleep last night. that was kind of nice. I got up a few minutes early today. Of course, work expands to fill available time, so I didn't get to work early, but it was nice to have a bowl of cereal for breakfast.

I'm leaving in a few minutes to go to Gen Con. It's a big gaming convention. It's all about fantasy and science fiction and role-playing games, board games, and card games.

I used to play games there, so I'd be there for twelve hours or more each of the four days. Lately, I haven't gotten any games so I just go to look around and buy things. the price keeps going up. I think it is $23 to get in the door for one day. That's outrageous just to look around in the dealers hall and the art show. I have to go, though. It's the last year here in Milwaukee, and I've been going every year since 1980. It wasn't too many years ago that it was $40 or $50 for a four day participant pass, and $6 a day for a visitor's pass. They've added enough events that the "visitors" can enjoy, that they've done away with the visitor's pass. There's still not much there that interets me, so $23 really sucks. Few of my friends are going anymore, and they are die-hard gamers.

[grins] Get Cyn to show you the picture of Matthew so you can find him and bonk him for me while you're there, k? :)

Sorry, there were so many people there that I had to limit my viewing to girls in chain mail bikinis.

[laugh] If you have to be limited, that's a good choice. ;)

Sorry you didn't have a good time.

I'm sure I would have had a good time if I had had events to participate in, and that is somewhat my fault. Even so, I would not have complained if the price of admission had been commensurate with walking around and buying stuff.

How about you? How was your Con?

I was lucky enough to see the things I'd come to see. The hubby, K, got the art pieces he'd drawn autographed. I got some free autographs. I saw some of the seminar lectures. I met up with friends formerly from TSR and chatted. I wandered the Exhibit Hall. And I watched a friend run one of his sessions of an extremely popular demo game. The good and fun outweighed any of the bad.

That's good. :-) There are fun things there to do, but I just haven't been inspired to do them.

Sometimes that happens. I remember two years ago, I just got on a bus and went home at about noon on Saturday because nothing was appealing to me. Kyym stayed though because he was having a good time.
