It didn't occur to me until later that people wouldn't realize that Cindy and I were together when I made my proposal. Not that I thought they'd think we were apart - I just hadn't given it any thought at all. We're always together on weekends, unless I'm away for a scout outing or something.
When she was checking her e-mail I was wandering around in the background, trying to keep busy. When she finally went to LJ I was brushing my teeth, so I had to finish that up in a hurry. The hitch came when she took the time to thank me for the ring, rather than clicking on to the next link. that was kind of a "duh" moment. If I had realized that would happen, I'm not sure if I would have gone through with this method of proposal - I can't think of a way around that. She was a bit uncomfortable because she didn't know if it was that sort of ring or not. And of course it fit that finger, but I wasn't saying much of anything. Then she remembered to click the link.
Then I was kneeling next to her. Well, not kneeling like that, but just kneeling on the floor next to her as I often do when she's on the computer. So were together, and I do consider myself to have proposed in person. Besides, even if I had said the words out loud, I still might have read them. I didn't really want to leave them up to chance.
I realize it might not have been the most perfect marriage proposal, but we're both very happy with how it turned out.

You two are such a great couple. I'm just so glad that I've been privvy to so much of your getting together, from the very start.
